Blog Post #1

Hey everybody! My name is Allison Peterson and I am currently a junior here at South Alabama. I was born and raised on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, and I reside in Woolmarket. I graduated from Gulfport High School in 2009, where I played soccer and earned a scholarship to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. Unfortunately, I tore my ACL for the second time, so I had to retire from soccer.I only have one sibling, a brother, who is four years younger than me. I also have a dog and a chameleon.

I have always loved children and wanted to teach art for as long as I can remember. My seventh grade teacher Ms. Blake made my choice to teach permanent from then on. I would really love to teach Art in an Elementary school somewhere back home on the coast.I happened to attend USA because the University of Southern Mississippi decided to drop Art Education about a semester before I was to attend there, so I decided that USA was a better option to attend.

Randy Pausch on Time Management

Randy Pausch gives excellent advice when it comes to managing time and reducing stress. He states that keeping track of your goals and making lists can help tremendously in managing time, preventing procrastination, and controlling stress. He stated that "failure to plan is planning to fail." In this, he is encouraging everyone to make lists for everyday, week, semester, and so on. I really enjoyed his speech and will use his advice in helping me manage stressing out about things I should not by making lists to plan my schedules.
